About This Project

Our overarching goal for this project is that through routine developmental screenings, Oakland County families have the ability to understand, document and maintain their child’s developmental history. Developmental concerns are identified early and families are connected to further evaluation and community resources.

Specific goals for this project include:

  • Outreach to and recruit physicians, early childhood professionals, parent educators, and home visitors to implement routine developmental screenings into their current services to families.
  • Educate families on the importance of routine developmental screening and provide opportunities and support to complete the ASQ at suggested intervals (outreach events, screening days, etc.)
  • Resources will be shared with families, including ASQ activities, parent education services and supports, child development materials, and community resources.
  • Utilize data gathered to monitor gaps in services available and work toward building capacity to meet all families needs.

Expected outcomes include:

  • 3,000 developmental screens will be completed.
  • 30% of screens completed will be from families that are routinely completing the ASQ at the suggested intervals.
  • Monitor and report out monthly on (a) number of children identified for further assessment, (b) common types of developmental concerns/delays, (c) services referred to, and (d) area of residence (by zip code).
  • 12 community organizations will incorporate ASQ-3 and ASQ:SE into their service delivery for young children (5 new sites and 7 current sites), serving over 2,000 young children and their families.
